The International Olympic Committee said Friday that it has asked gymnastics officials to investigate whether the Chinese women’s gymnastics team that won gold in Beijing included underage athletes.

An investigation was triggered when a computer analyst from the U.S. claimed to have discovered Chinese government documents proving one of the Chinese gymnasts, He Kexin, was only 14 years old.  Olympic rules require competitors to turn at least 16 years old in the year of the games.
