Maryland head coach Ralph Friegeden announced the indefinite suspension of linebacker Rick Costa after Costa was arrested for punching a police officer in the face outside the popular College Park bar early Sunday morning. Costa has been charged with one count of felony first-degree assualt and two counts of misdemeanor second-degree assault. Costa allegedly punched the officer as the officer came to aid of the bar’s bouncers who were being attacked by Costa after informing him that the bar had closed for the evening.
