The Youth Baseball League of New Haven told the coach of 9-year-old Jericho Scott not to let the boy pitch because he is simply too good. After Scott’s coach ignored the order, the League announced the team’s disbandment.
Scott’s pitches, not one of which has struck a batter, top out at around 40 mph, making him virtually unhittable in the 8-to-10-year-old league he plays in.
The disbanding of Scott’s team has brought allegations of league administrator corruption and the threat of legal action.
But it’s all worth it to teach the young man an important lesson - that if you love and excel at something, it will be taken away from you.
