Haircuit suggesting history of bad decisions
Jacksonville Jaguars receiver Matt Jones pleaded not guilty on Monday to possession of cocaine, a felony charge carrying up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
The former Arkansas Razorback was arrested in his college hometown of Fayetteville, Arkansas on July 10 when a police officer spotted Jones inside a car cutting up cocaine with a Matercard. Arkansas only accepts American Express.
Jones’ father issued a statement soon after the arrest insisting that while the cocaine was in Jones’ car, was in closest proximity to Jones and was most likely coursing through his son’s veins at the time, his son had nonetheless been wrongly accused.
Jones, a star Razorback quarterback and first round draft pick, has largely been a disappointment in the NFL, which Dark Side is certain has nothing to do with cocaine.
Jaguars added wide receivers Jerry Porter and Troy Williamson in the offseason, leaving Jones’ future with the Jaguars in question, but recent injuries to both of those players has thrust Jones back into a key Jaguars role.
Jones, free on $2,500 bond, is scheduled for trial on October 10.
