The father of Jacksonville Jaguar wide receiver Matt Jones says his son had no responsibility for the cocaine found when he was arrested in his college home town last week.

“We want to make it clear that Matt was not in possession of any drugs,” Steve Jones said in a statement posted on the website of KWNA television station in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Jones continued: “Yes there was white powder in his car and yes it was located in the closest proximity to Matt…and sure, he was chopping it up with a credit card. But, I’ll say it again: in no way was Matt in possession of any drugs.”

The elder Jones then strangely concluded the statement by offering for sale his ocean-front property in Arkansas.
